Places to Visit in Florida

Daytona is not the only show in Florida. Leesburg and Eustis are two other great places to visit.  Both towns are about a couple hours ride from Daytona on the southern edge of the Ocala National Forest. While you are there, you could  spend some time riding through the National Forest getting in touch with nature, or visit the many lakes in the area.  With your leather saddlebags on the bike you could spend time visiting the shops.  You never know what you might find.

Daytona and Friends

Guess what, Daytona Bike Week is not far off.   Do you have some time off coming up?  It probably won’t take much to get the bike ready. Throw the sissy bar bag, tent and sleeping bag on the bike.  Call a few of your friends, see who can ride.  Think about it, sunshine, having fun, getting in some great riding, getting together with old friends and meeting new ones.  Sounds like a good plan to get rid of the winter blues.

Daydreaming

Just sitting there daydreaming, nothing to do.  Why not throw some stuff in the sissy bar bag and and if the sun comes out you will be all set to go.  Get on the bike, go fill up with gas and take off down the road. After getting on the road, you can head in whatever direction you want with no real destination in mind.  Just the thought of clearing the cobwebs out of your head  and the wind in your face make you smile.

Small Dogs on Bikes

Being on the road you have to be aware of your surroundings.  Seeing a dog on a motorcycle would definitely catch your attention.  I was sitting at a stoplight waiting for it to change, when a bike came up beside me.  Something caught my eye.  There was a small head sticking out of the scooter bag the passenger was carrying.  Thinking about it, having a small dog in the family could pose a problem when you have to take short trips out of town.  You can ask your neighbors to take care of them or if they can’t , you can take them with you.

A Day With Your Friend

Dogs are great companions.  They love to play and be loved.  Like most of us they want to get out.  Not  just out of the house in the yard to play or for a walk, but really out, like for a ride. Put some toys, treats, water bowl and a few bottles of water in the motorcycle barrel bag and throw it in the front seat of your car.  You are all set.   It doesn’t really matter where you go just as long as you go.

Stressed Out

Ever feel totally stressed out?  I do and some of the ways I relieve the stress is exercise, take a walk or play with the dog.   Since I live close to the beach,  just getting out of the house and going to look at he water is a calming effect.  I will pack my camera, a towel and a book in my scooter bag and head to the beach.  I’ll find a secluded spot and sit and look at the water and read.

Hearing the crashing waves on the beach helps to clear my mind and feel renewed.

Excuses To Ride

With the weather being so up and down lately, it has been so hard to do anything let alone plan anything.  It  seems every time you do something comes up.  Having to work on your day off, something breaking while you are trying to fix it.   I like to keep the motorcycle tool bag on the bike,  so if I find an excuse to run an errand  or to go get something I need or visit a friend, I just ride the bike.

Spending Your Tax Refund

This time of year taxes have to be paid and taxes have to be filed.   Waiting  for your W2 to come in, you start to think what you might do if you get a refund.  How would you spend it?  Pay bills , put it away for a rainy day or maybe spend it for something you need.  Looking around you start to make a list.  A television, a stereo, a sissy bar bag, tires, clothes, a new phone are just of few of the items you think of.  Now we wait to see what we get.

Keeping resolutions

Well it is the begining of the year and like everyone else you probably have made some resolutions and more than likely have broken most of them.  Like me, if you own a motorcycle, one was to do more riding.  To do that, you need more free time.  Let’s take out the calendar and plan this out.  Once a week, mark a few hours or even a day for just riding .  Keep the motorcycle saddlebags packed so they can just be thrown on and you can go.  Have fun.

Leather Saddlebags at Yard Sale

Reading the classified in the newspaper, I started to look through the yard sales listing to see if any were in the area worth going to.  Always looking for a deal I wrote down the addresses and set out to see if any treasures could be found.  After several stops something caught my eye.  There was a set of old leather saddlebags.  Some of the stitching needed to be repaired and they needed a good coat of oil to bring back the shine.  Would they fit?
